Dr. Laurie Permack

Dr. Laurie Permack received his Doctorate in Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Permack previously completed his BSc with a major in biology from the University of Winnipeg. Dr. Permack’s practice includes comprehensive eye exams, contact lens exams, medical eye care and management of diseases including cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Dr. Permack has maintained a full-scope optometry practice including Ortho-K contact lens fittings, a technology to slow myopic progression and allow patients to be free of glasses and contact lenses during the day. Dr. Permack also spent years working at TLC Laser Eye Centre and has experience managing patients for pre and post operative care for cataract, refractive lens exchange and LASIK surgery.

While completing studies in the United States, Dr. Permack worked across the U.S. in private and public teaching clinics. His experience includes rotations at a private practice in Colorado focussing on paediatric examinations, and at a practice in North Carolina focused on contact lenses, including the use of innovative and revolutionary techniques including Ortho-K. Dr. Permack additionally completed a rotation at the Newington Veteran Affairs Hospital in Connecticut, which made him proficient at diagnosing and treating ocular disease and provided him with experience in hospital-based optometry.

Dr. Permack has completed both the Canadian Assessment of Competency in Optometry as well as the American National Board of Optometry and is certified to work in Canada and the United States. He is certified to use medications in the treatment of ocular diseases including glaucoma, dry eye and eye infections.
